Dr. Shakar Jafari

Founder & CTO

Shakar founded TRUEinvivo after discovering that glass beads are excellent radiation detectors and she had the idea to improve survival rates in radiotherapy. She invented her first medical device before coming to the UK and worked in the NHS during her PhD and afterwards at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth where she still does part-time clinical research. Shakar is also a visiting researcher at the University of Surrey and she mentors and supervises students both in the UK and other countries. She won a “Women-in-Innovation” award from Innovate UK in 2016.

Nigel Biggs

CEO

Nigel was a software engineer before founding his company which became Pixology plc. Pixology provided in-store and online picture ordering systems worldwide in the new era of digital photography including the first in-camera correction of red eyes. Pixology floated on AIM in 2003 and Nigel left in 2006 to start Passionate Innovation Ltd. He also became the visiting Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of Surrey where he met Shakar Jafari in 2015. Nigel was a consultant to another medical devices company before becoming CEO of TRUEinvivo.

Prof. David Bradley

Non Exec Director

David is Emeritus Professor of Radiation Physics at the University of Surrey and Head of the Centre for Radiation Sciences at Sunway University, Malaysia. Previous international roles: Member of the BSI Radiation Protection and Measurement Group and the CT Security-Screening Systems project; Consulting Editor for Elsevier Journals; Editor-in-Chief of the British Journal of Radiology; Executive Councillor of the International Radiation Physics Society (IRPS), 2015-2018 and President from 2018. David received the Institute of Physics & Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) Gold Medal 2016.

Mike Stroud

Engineering Director

Mike is a leading authority in consumer digital imaging with 35 years experience in engineering, digital imaging and IT. After 7 years as a global technical troubleshooter for a major US computer manufacturer, Mike went on to be Technical Director at Pixology Plc for 12 years. Here he developed one of the leading digital imaging printing platforms of its kind. More recently, Mike has been instrumental in designing and launching an innovative digital ophthalmic measuring device. Mike is a former Chairman of the Standards Committee at the International Imaging Industry Association.

George Sutherland

Chairman

George has been Chairman of TRUEinvivo since 2019. He is CEO of the Sutherland Health Group, he is our Healthcare Market Advisor and our Investor Director. He has a background in major fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and medical device companies with skills in sales, marketing, buying, budgetary control and general management. He has managed business with most of the major UK retailers and Amazon and many years of experience in dealing with the NHS. He has set up, and run private companies, has experience in raising corporate finance, pre and post IPO, and founded and run a public company.
